Photography History
My interests in photography started at a young age, around
the time I was 10 or 11. I was always fascinated with pictures
and whenever I went on a family trip I insisted on being the one
to take the photographs. I started off with a cheap Kodak 110
camera that served its purpose for a year or two. A 35mm camera
would follow and would take me into high school.
Once in high school I started taking all the photography
classes I could. I bought my first SLR, a Minolta X900, along
with a 55mm prime lens. I shot black and white all through high
school with this combination, on occasion I was fortunate enough
to borrow a friends telephoto lens.
Once high school ended I
looked toward college, I opted for a degree in Urban Studies
instead of Photography but found myself taking all the photo
classes I could. Over the years I upgraded my gear from my old
Minolta SLR and entered the digital age.
I've always enjoyed taking pictures for my own use, and I had
never thought about doing work for others until a friend
approached me and asked me to take pictures of his car. I agreed
and within a year I was shooting portraits, weddings, auto
races, and sporting events. This is still a hobby for me, some
may call it a second job, but I'm still an amateur at heart and
am more focused on developing my technique than making it a full
time career.
